Bryan Danielson Discusses Possible In-Ring Return – Bryan Danielson’s full-time wrestling career ended at AEW WrestleDream in October 2024, but questions about his future in the ring have never fully disappeared. While Danielson has avoided calling himself officially retired, long-standing neck issues and the likelihood of surgery had created the belief that his in-ring days were finished.
During a recent interview with Justin Barrasso of Undisputed, Danielson revealed that a connection through AEW led him to a specialist who has significantly improved how he feels physically. The development has opened the door, at least slightly, to the idea of wrestling again.
“I don’t close it off. Maybe.” Danielson said. “In April of 2025, Adam Copeland sent me to his physical therapist. He said the guy was a miracle worker. This guy worked on me for two days in a row, six hours each day. After the first night, I slept nine hours straight. After the second night, I slept eight hours straight. After that, I was sleeping seven or eight hours almost every night. That’s a game changer for how you feel.”
Despite stepping away from full-time competition, Danielson has remained visible within AEW. He wrestled a brief dark match against Max Caster in June 2025 that lasted only seconds, and he has delivered Busaiku Knees during appearances in CMLL and at AEW All In Texas, showing he can still be physical when needed.
Outside the ring, Danielson continues to work closely with AEW leadership. He serves as a creative consultant to Tony Khan and has been part of the promotion’s commentary team. However, his presence at the desk has been limited in recent months due to ongoing neck issues that make regular travel difficult.
For now, Danielson has not committed to another match, and surgery remains a lingering possibility. Still, his recent progress and openness about the situation suggest that a return, even in a limited capacity, has not been completely ruled out.
