Update on Private Party’s AEW Status

Update on Private Party’s AEW Status – Former AEW World Tag Team Champions Private Party have been absent from AEW television for nearly a year, leading to continued questions about their status. The team of Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen last appeared on AEW programming when they dropped the AEW World Tag Team Titles to The Hurt Syndicate. Since that loss, neither wrestler has been featured regularly on television.

A new report has provided some clarity regarding where things stand. During a recent Fightful Select Q&A, Sean Ross Sapp noted that Marq Quen was seen backstage at an AEW event a couple of months ago. Outside of that brief appearance, there has been little information about Private Party or any creative plans tied to their return. Their prolonged absence has stood out, especially given their role during AEW’s early growth period.

The report also addressed questions surrounding their contracts. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported in June 2025 that Private Party’s AEW deals were set to expire “soon.” However, Sapp clarified that as of January 2026, both Kassidy and Quen remain under contract with AEW. It was noted that their contracts are not structured identically, meaning the expiration dates for each wrestler do not line up exactly.

Sapp also stated that there has been interest from WWE in the tag team. No additional details were provided regarding the level or timing of that interest, and there is no indication that Private Party is currently negotiating with another promotion. For now, both wrestlers remain signed to AEW.

Private Party were among the first talents to sign with AEW following the company’s official launch announcement in 2019. They made their AEW in-ring debut at Fyter Fest 2019 and quickly became a featured act in the tag team division. Their breakout moment came on the debut episode of AEW Dynamite in October 2019, when they defeated The Young Bucks in a tournament match for the AEW World Tag Team Championship. That win played a major role in establishing them as a key team during AEW’s early months.

While their future direction remains unclear, the latest report confirms that Private Party are still under contract and remain part of AEW, even as fans continue to wait for their return to television.
