Darby Allin Sets His Brother On Fire As Part Of A Proposal Stunt – On the latest episode of The Jim Cornette Experience, Jim Cornette and co-host Brian Last discussed a viral video involving AEW star Darby Allin that quickly gained attention online. The clip showed a chaotic and controversial marriage proposal that ended with the intended fiancée running away in fear.
The video, which circulated widely on social media, featured Allin setting his brother on fire as part of a proposal stunt inside a concrete bowl. As the man knelt while engulfed in flames, the woman reacted with shock and panic before fleeing the scene. The moment drew strong criticism from Cornette, who questioned the thought process behind the stunt.
“Does the average 32-year-old guy think that it would be a good idea to set his brother on fire for a marriage proposal?” Cornette asked during the discussion. He described the scene in disbelief, noting how the proposal completely collapsed. “She screamed… ‘What the f**k is happening’ and ran off away from the guy,” Cornette said.
Cornette and Last also focused on what they viewed as a lack of basic safety precautions. Cornette pointed out that there appeared to be minimal preparation for such a dangerous act. “There’s no water, there’s no hose, there’s one fire extinguisher, and there’s not even a goddamn ladder to get out of that place,” he said. He contrasted the scene with how similar stunts are handled in professional film or television environments.
According to Cornette, the video reflected an amateur approach rather than anything resembling a controlled production. “This is not… trained professionals… standing by with safety measures… it’s some jack off slacker wannabe with a f**king iPhone,” he stated.
Cornette also commented on the woman’s reaction, framing it as a reasonable response under the circumstances. “If you won’t either marry me or put me out when I’m on fire… maybe it wasn’t meant to be,” he joked. He concluded by criticizing the maturity level involved, labeling Allin and those involved as reckless. “Is it time that we stop thinking, well, he’s just a goofy kid, and start to realize, no, he’s just a goofy f**king adult,” Cornette said.
