Why Ric Flair Misses AEW Blood and Guts Appearance – Fans were left wondering why Ric Flair didn’t appear on the live AEW Blood and Guts edition of Dynamite as advertised, especially after his name was linked to Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat’s in-ring segment with FTR. While many expected a reunion between two of Greensboro’s most iconic wrestling legends, plans changed at the last minute due to Flair’s health.
According to reports, Flair was indeed backstage at the Greensboro Coliseum but did not take part in the televised segment. Instead, he briefly greeted the live crowd before leaving the arena. The WWE Hall of Famer is said to be dealing with “a ton of pain” caused by a recent rotator cuff tear, which forced AEW to alter its planned segment.
Details remain unclear regarding when or how Flair sustained the injury. However, his absence required a quick rewrite of the show, as the segment involving Steamboat and FTR was intended to include him in some capacity.
Just a few months ago, in late July, Flair had publicly stated that he was both pain-free and cancer-free. Despite his Woooo Energy drink sponsorship deal ending—which previously covered his AEW compensation—Flair remains under AEW employment. Earlier this year, he appeared on AEW television to honor his longtime friend and fellow Four Horsemen member, the late Steve “Mongo” McMichael.
While Flair’s appearance in Greensboro was cut short, it’s clear AEW fans and wrestlers alike continue to hold “The Nature Boy” in high regard as he recovers from his latest setback.
