New AEW Tag Team Champions Crowned at Full Gear – FTR are once again at the top of AEW’s tag team division. At the 2025 Full Gear PPV from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler defeated Brodido to capture the AEW Tag Team Championship for the third time, tying The Young Bucks for the most reigns in company history.
The match was a chaotic battle from start to finish. Brody King and Bandido pushed FTR to the limit with their power and speed, but the challengers ultimately took control in the closing moments. After sending King crashing onto the apron with a piledriver, Harwood and Wheeler targeted Bandido, cutting the ring in half and overwhelming him with their trademark precision. Bandido tried to rally, but with King still recovering on the outside, he had no escape. FTR connected with the Shatter Machine, securing the pinfall and reclaiming the titles.
The build to Full Gear had become increasingly personal. In the weeks leading up to the event, FTR and Stokely Hathaway repeatedly antagonized Bandido and his family. Their verbal insults included jabs at Bandido’s grandmother and his brother Gravity. Things escalated when FTR ambushed Gravity during a backstage segment while Brody King and Bandido were locked in a room with Stokely guarding the outside. King eventually broke through the door, but the damage had already been done.
Brodido’s reign lasted 90 days. They originally won the AEW Tag Team Championship from The Hurt Syndicate at Forbidden Door in a three-way match that also included FTR. During their time as champions, Brody King and Bandido defended the titles against top-level opponents such as Kazuchika Okada and Konosuke Takeshita, and even took the belts to CMLL for international defenses. Despite losing the AEW Tag Team Titles, Bandido still holds the ROH World Championship.
