Gunther and Solo Sikoa Advance In “The Last Time Is Now” Tournament – GUNTHER made his long-awaited return to WWE RAW on the November 17 episode from Madison Square Garden, stepping into his first televised match since SummerSlam. The former World Heavyweight Champion competed against rising talent Je’Von Evans in a first-round bout as part of The Last Time Is Now tournament, which will determine John Cena’s final opponent.
The match immediately set the tone for GUNTHER’s comeback. He took control from the opening lock-up, forcing Evans into a defensive strategy while absorbing heavy offense. The Austrian star delivered his trademark methodical style, blending hard strikes with mat-based control designed to wear down his opponent. Evans showed flashes of momentum late in the match and attempted to rally with quick movement and aerial attacks, but GUNTHER ultimately cut him off. The finish saw Evans trapped in a tight sleeper hold, leaving him no choice but to submit.
With the victory, GUNTHER advances to the second round of the tournament, which is scheduled to continue on the November 24 episode of RAW. He is now set to face the winner of Carmelo Hayes vs. Bronson Reed.
As noted, Solo Sikoa also also earned a tournament win earlier in the night by defeating the returning Dolph Ziggler (Nic Nemeth). After a competitive match, Ziggler was hit with the Samoan Spike and pinned. WWE has not yet confirmed Sikoa’s next opponent.
As the field narrows, the remaining tournament matches will continue to air on RAW and SmackDown until a final opponent for John Cena is officially determined.
