More on WrestleMania 43 in Saudi Arabia – WWE’s reported plan to bring WrestleMania 43 to Saudi Arabia in 2027 continues to draw attention, and new details are emerging about why that specific year was chosen. According to the Wrestling Observer, WWE originally pushed for 2028, but Saudi officials insisted on 2027 to align with a major national milestone: the 300th anniversary of the founding of the First Saudi State.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer broke down the situation, noting the influence of Saudi leadership in the decision. “WWE wanted it in 2028. They had commitments for 2027,” Meltzer explained. “The reason it had to be 2027… Turki (Al-Sheikh) is running the show – Ari Emanuel is the head of TKO, Nick Khan is the head of WWE, Dana White is the head of UFC, Dana White and Nick Khan are the head of TKO Boxing. However, the final boss is Turki, because he’s the guy with all the money in the world at his disposal.”
The report further stated that the Saudi partners are already targeting specific high-profile matches for the event. “Even though it’s a couple of years, I don’t know if they’re gonna be able to get them, but they’re gonna spend a lot of money to get what they want obviously,” Meltzer said. “We’re talking about anyone coming out of retirement that wants to come out of retirement of big name value will be able to get a lot of money for this show. That’s what they want.”
Saudi Arabia has become one of WWE’s most valuable markets since their partnership began in 2018. The deal sees WWE produce two premium live events in the country each year, with each show generating around $50 million in revenue. Bringing WrestleMania to the Kingdom represents the next phase in that relationship, following the announcement that Saudi Arabia will also host the Royal Rumble in 2026.
If finalized, WrestleMania 43 in 2027 would mark the first time in history that WWE’s biggest annual event takes place outside of North America, a landmark shift in the company’s global expansion.
