In the Arena:
Seth Rollins makes his way to the ring and he has something to say.
Seth waits for part of the crowd to ‘hum’ his music and the rest of the crowd to chant the names of everyone he has pissed off in WWE.
Seth mentions his match at Crown Jewel. Cody has three wins and Seth has three losses. If you think that bothers him, it doesn’t bother him because it doesn’t matter. Those matches were in the past. Those versions of Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins are in the past. Those were men trying to reach the top. What matters is Crown Jewel. You have two men at the top and they will go one-on-one at Crown Jewel. The winner of that match doesn’t just win the Crown Jewel Championship, but may determine the next ten to twenty years of this entire industry. The thing that he kind of doesn’t understand is that there are people watching who want Cody to win.
Seth says you people who sing for him and say his name think that he should win and lead this company into the future. You think that Cody is the quarterback of WWE. Seth asks if you have lost your minds. What is wrong with you. Seth says he is the one to lead this industry into the future. He says he has done everything right. He stayed here when times got tough. He brought this company into its golden age. He took two young men under his wing and given them his knowledge to secure their place at the top. Seth says he has done it all. He has sacrificed everything, trying to remove cancers like Roman Reigns and CM Punk. You people still chant for Cody.
After a significant enough pause, Cody Rhodes music interrupts.
Cody makes his way to the ring.
Cody pauses for the obligatory ‘first name . . . full name’ serenade.
Cody tells Seth he is bit messy and dramatic and he wants to know what are they talking about? The future of the industry? It sounds a bit much. They don’t have control of the future. He says the people have the control. Cody mentions that Bron and Bronson showed up on Smackdown and that isn’t their show. He says Seth didn’t send them. He says he thinks Paul sent them. Who is in control?
Seth says all decisions come through him. All decisions come through him. He sent them to Smackdown to get the message to Cody.
Cody says you were the one who allowed Paul Heyman to announce Brock Lesnar?
Seth says every decision runs through him.
Seth tells the people everything runs through him and he says that he is the reason you are here tonight.
Cody says he is trying here. They are trying. Cody says they are trying to have fun. He says let’s strip this down to what it is about. The Crown Jewel Championship. It could be that simple. Cody says he is trying here. Twenty years from now, where are they going to be? Are they going to be sitting in the chairs back there talking to the future of the industry reminiscing about their past matches. It was you, at Wrestlemania 40, extending your hand to him. You were the shield to him at Wrestlemania. All guilt between them put aside. He says he thought Seth was his friend.
Seth tells Cody to shut him. He says he was never Cody’s friend. That was never friendship. That was a means to an end. You were the lesser of two evils. Cody says that little scenario about the future that you painted is never going to happen. They are never going to be friends. He will never call Cody his equal. What he is going to do is that he is going to cleanse the time line. Everything that happened before is dead. After Crown Jewel, he writes a new history and a new future. There is only one person who will lead that vision. That person is Seth Rollins.
