Teams Revealed for Elimination Matches at NXT Vs TNA Showdown – WWE has officially rebranded the upcoming crossover event with TNA Wrestling, changing its title from NXT vs. TNA Invasion to NXT vs. TNA Showdown. The announcement was confirmed during the September 30 episode of NXT, with the company also updating promotional materials across its platforms to reflect the new branding. WWE is now advertising the event as a “special event” rather than using the Invasion moniker.
The show remains scheduled for October 7, a date that coincides with the second anniversary of the Hamas attacks in Israel that sparked the ongoing war in Gaza. While WWE did not publicly connect the renaming to that anniversary, the timing of the branding change has drawn attention. Historically, WWE has used the “Invasion” name before, most notably for the 2001 storyline featuring WWE against WCW.
Along with the rebranding, WWE finalized several major matches for the event. Two 4-on-4 Survivor Series–style elimination matches will headline the cross-promotional battles. Team NXT will be led by Ricky Saints, with Trick Williams, Je’Von Evans, and Myles Borne joining him. They will face Team TNA, captained by Mike Santana, with Frankie Kazarian, Moose, and Leon Slater rounding out the lineup.
On the women’s side, Jacy Jane will captain Team NXT, with Jaida Parker, Sol Ruca, and Lola Vice as her teammates. They will take on Team TNA, led by Kelani Jordan and backed by Jesse McKay, Cassie Lee, and Mara Sade.
A major “Winner Take All” clash will also highlight the card, as TNA World Tag Team Champions The Hardys (Matt & Jeff Hardy) face NXT World Tag Team Champions DarkState (Dion Lennox & Osiris Griffin), with both sets of titles on the line. In addition, Ethan Page is set to defend the NXT North American Championship against Mustafa Ali.
NXT vs. TNA Showdown is shaping up to be one of WWE’s most ambitious crossover events to date, blending top stars from both promotions in high-stakes matches designed to elevate NXT’s ongoing storyline partnership with TNA.
