Eddie Kingston Steps Back Into the Ring After Injury, AEW Return Nears – Eddie Kingston has taken a major step toward his in-ring return, offering fans a hopeful update on his recovery. The AEW star posted a photo to Instagram showing himself back inside a wrestling ring — the first time he’s been seen training since undergoing surgery for a devastating leg injury.
The image, which quickly gained attention from AEW fans, marks a turning point in Kingston’s rehabilitation. “The Mad King” has been out of action since May 11, when he sustained multiple leg injuries during a match against Gabe Kidd at NJPW Resurgence. The damage was extensive: Kingston suffered a fractured tibia, a torn ACL, and a torn meniscus. Following surgery, he began a long recovery process involving physical therapy and rehab.
This new post indicates that Kingston is making significant progress, and while a firm return date hasn’t been announced, his presence in the ring suggests he may be inching closer to AEW television.
His comeback couldn’t be better timed. AEW is currently deep into a high-stakes storyline involving AEW World Champion “Hangman” Adam Page and the Death Riders faction — which is led by Kingston’s longtime rival Jon Moxley and former friend Claudio Castagnoli. Kingston’s return would immediately add emotional weight to the ongoing conflict, particularly given his complex history with both Moxley and Castagnoli.
Kingston has long been known for his intense promos and gritty in-ring style, and fans have been vocal about missing his presence. If his recovery stays on track, AEW may soon have one of its most passionate performers back in the mix just as tensions boil over among some of the company’s top names.
