John Cena Breaks Silence After Brock Lesnar's SummerSlam Attack

John Cena Breaks Silence After Brock Lesnar’s SummerSlam Attack – John Cena has spoken out for the first time since being ambushed by Brock Lesnar at the end of Night Two of SummerSlam, and he’s keeping his message consistent as his retirement tour continues.

Speaking with Adam’s Apple, Cena was asked about the brutal closing moments of SummerSlam, where Lesnar made a surprise return and left the 17-time world champion laid out. Cena didn’t offer any complaints and instead kept to his long-standing approach of going with the flow.

“I’ve been saying the same thing for 25 years. They deal ’em, I play ’em,” Cena stated. “I’m just really excited. We got like 12 of these things left. I think SummerSlam was an indication from the audience where everybody kind of knows we’re closing our book.”

Cena emphasized that while his in-ring story is coming to an end, WWE’s journey goes on.

“And just because I close my book in December, that doesn’t mean the WWE closes its books,” he added. “They got to continue their programming going forward. So, they’re just trying to make the most exciting show for the fans, man. I got a dozen of them left.”

While Cena didn’t specifically address Lesnar’s name, the implication was clear. The two haven’t stood face-to-face since their last encounter at SummerSlam 2014, and now a potential clash between the legends is back on the table.

Triple H had previously acknowledged that Lesnar was on Cena’s personal shortlist of opponents for his final run. WWE, however, announced on RAW that it was President Nick Khan who initiated contact with Lesnar about a return three weeks ago. Internally, Lesnar was cleared by WWE’s legal team four weeks ago after previously being named in the Janel Grant lawsuit.

All signs now point to a blockbuster showdown, possibly at WWE Clash in Paris, scheduled later this month. Cena is also confirmed for this Friday’s SmackDown, where he and Lesnar could cross paths again following the shocking SummerSlam incident.
