Becky Lynch Takes Brutal Shot at Nikki Bella’s Past with John Cena – Becky Lynch stirred major controversy during the August 4 episode of WWE RAW from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, following her successful title defense over Lyra Valkyria at SummerSlam. The Women’s Intercontinental Champion came to the ring to celebrate her hard-fought win, but the moment was quickly interrupted by WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella, who had a few things to say of her own.
The verbal exchange between Lynch and Bella quickly escalated. Lynch threw the first jab by mocking Bella’s cut role in Happy Gilmore 2, saying she too was initially cast but the producers told her there was only room for one female WWE Superstar in the movie—and it wasn’t going to be Nikki.
Bella fired back with a pointed accusation, calling Lynch a liar “just like her husband Seth Rollins,” and claimed that while fans bought into Rollins’ supposed knee injury, nobody believes a single word Becky says.
That provoked Lynch to respond with one of the most cutting comments of the night. She declared that no one even talks about Nikki’s “hot husband” anymore, before stating that she and Rollins are now WWE’s true power couple. Then came the knockout verbal blow—Lynch added that Bella used to be part of WWE’s biggest power couple, but waved her hand in front of her face and quipped, “but you can’t see him anymore,” a clear reference to John Cena, without saying his name.
The Barclays Center crowd erupted with gasps and chants of “Holy sh*t” at the Cena reference.
Things turned physical moments later when Bella challenged Lynch to a match—only for Becky to sucker-punch her and leave her down in the ring.
Backstage, Nikki was approached by Natalya, Maxxine Dupri, and Akira Tozawa. Natalya stood up for Bella, telling Lynch her comments were out of line. Natalya then challenged Lynch to a match for next week’s RAW. However, Lynch declined and said she’d rather face Maxxine Dupri instead.
