Bryan Danielson Set for AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door Pre-Show Role – AEW has confirmed that Bryan Danielson will appear this Sunday, August 24, as part of the AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door event. Danielson will not be competing but instead will serve as a panelist on the “Zero Hour” pre-show, joining Renee Paquette, RJ City, and Jeff Jarrett on the broadcast team.
This marks a natural fit for Danielson’s current place within AEW. The former World Champion retired from full-time in-ring competition last October at the WrestleDream pay-per-view due to ongoing issues with his neck. Since then, he has taken on a backstage and ambassadorial role while focusing on his health and family. AEW has made clear that Danielson is not cleared to wrestle and is taking the necessary time off from physical action.
While he hasn’t competed in nearly a year, Danielson has still managed to surprise fans with occasional appearances. Most notably, he emerged at AEW All In: Texas this past July, helping “Hangman” Adam Page in the main event to a major crowd reaction. Despite moments like these, Danielson has emphasized in interviews that he has no plans to return as an active wrestler, making this commentary role a way for him to stay connected to AEW’s biggest events without risking further injury.
The Forbidden Door pay-per-view is highlighted by a stacked card, with a ten-man Lights Out Steel Cage match scheduled to headline the show. Fans can catch Danielson on the free “Zero Hour” pre-show, streaming across AEW’s official social media platforms.
