Triple H Gives Update on Seth Rollins Injury – During Sunday night’s Evolution post-show press conference, WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H provided a brief but concerning update on Seth Rollins following his knee injury at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
“A little bit inconclusive. Doesn’t look good,” Triple H admitted. “He will be at Birmingham tomorrow. He came here tonight, he was not going to miss his wife’s performance tonight…we’ll get an MRI and hope for the best, see where we can go with that.”
Rollins sustained the injury during the final moments of his match against LA Knight. As he attempted a springboard maneuver off the middle rope, his knee gave out mid-air, causing him to collapse in the ring. The referee immediately intervened, speaking with Rollins and also with Paul Heyman at ringside. After a short pause, the match abruptly concluded with Knight hitting the BFT for the win.
According to Wrestling Observer’s Bryan Alvarez, the injury forced WWE to make major changes in the final 40 minutes of the NBC and Peacock broadcast. “The last 40 minutes of the show were changed on the fly,” Alvarez reported. “Something that was supposed to happen later didn’t take place as a result of the injury.”
Rollins was seen backstage at Evolution using crutches and wearing a knee brace. While initial speculation has been mixed — with some skeptical about whether the injury was real — all current backstage indications point toward the injury being legitimate. As of now, WWE has not confirmed the full extent of the damage, pending the results of Rollins’ MRI scheduled for Sunday in Birmingham, Alabama.
The main event of Saturday Night’s Main Event featured GUNTHER defeating Goldberg to retain the World Heavyweight Championship, officially marking Goldberg’s retirement from in-ring competition.
