Backstage Update on Seth Rollins’ Injury – According to a report from PWInsider, Seth Rollins was originally booked to defeat LA Knight at WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 12. However, plans were altered mid-match after Rollins appeared to suffer a legitimate knee injury, forcing WWE to call an audible and award the win to Knight instead.
The incident occurred when Rollins attempted a quebrada (moonsault), but his knee gave out upon landing. Knight capitalized shortly after with a BFT to secure the pinfall. The referee held Knight back briefly while WWE’s medical team assessed Rollins at ringside, which fueled speculation that something was not going according to script.
While WWE has not yet released an official medical update, multiple sources are indicating that the injury is believed to be 100% legitimate. In addition, PWInsider confirmed that the change in match outcome was made on the fly due to Rollins’ condition.
Adding to the concern, fan-shot footage from the arena shows Rollins being helped to the back by officials, visibly frustrated and limping. The reaction further underscores the potential severity of the injury.
On commentary, both Michael Cole and Wade Barrett emphasized the risks of professional wrestling, with Barrett reiterating how quickly things can change in the ring due to real physical damage.
Rollins, who has battled significant knee issues in the past—including a torn ACL and MCL in 2015—has been a focal point on WWE programming, often working through minor injuries. This latest setback, if confirmed serious, could have major implications for WWE’s creative direction heading into SummerSlam and beyond.
WrestlingAttitude.Com will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
