Samoa Joe Stretchered Out at All In: Texas – AEW All In: Texas opened with high-impact trios action as The Opps—Samoa Joe, Katsuyori Shibata, and Powerhouse Hobbs—successfully defended the AEW Trios Championships against The Death Riders’ Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, and Gabe Kidd. The champions retained after Joe finished Yuta with a Muscle Buster to score the pinfall for his team.
But the fallout was just as significant as the match itself.
Immediately following the loss, The Death Riders launched a violent post-match attack on Samoa Joe. Claudio and Kidd restrained Joe while Yuta wrapped a steel chair around his neck. In a brutal scene, Claudio stomped down on the chair, appearing to cause serious damage to Joe’s throat and neck. Medics rushed to ringside, and Joe was stretchered out of Globe Life Field in front of a stunned crowd.
As of now, it’s unclear whether the angle is a storyline injury or a setup to write Joe off TV due to outside obligations. Joe is a featured star on Peacock’s Twisted Metal, which returns with Season 2 on July 31. With filming reportedly underway, this could mark a temporary exit from AEW programming for the veteran.
The timing of the attack is also notable, given that Jon Moxley, the leader of The Death Riders, is scheduled to defend the AEW World Championship against “Hangman” Adam Page in the Texas Death Match main event. With Joe likely out of the picture, the Death Riders may have eliminated a powerful wildcard from interfering in the match.
Joe’s condition has not been officially updated by AEW, but the stretcher job signals a significant development in both storyline and possibly real-life scheduling. Whether it’s part of a longer narrative or a temporary exit, the violent aftermath of this opening bout has already shaken up the All In card before the night’s biggest match.
