Matt Damon and Ben Affleck Film About Hulk Hogan Canceled – A planned Hollywood film centered around Hulk Hogan’s landmark lawsuit against Gawker Media is reportedly no longer moving forward.
According to TMZ, the film was being developed by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck through their production company, Artists Equity. The project aimed to dramatize Hogan’s legal battle stemming from the release of his leaked sex tape, which included audio of him making racist remarks. The scandal led to WWE cutting ties with Hogan for several years and caused significant damage to his legacy and public image.
While the project had gained early traction, sources told TMZ that the film has been shelved. Importantly, this decision reportedly has nothing to do with Hogan’s passing last Thursday at age 71. Instead, insiders said the project had been “tabled” quite a while ago for unspecified reasons.
TMZ also noted that Hulk Hogan was never directly involved in the film’s development. In fact, sources close to Hogan claimed he had no interest in participating and may have even considered legal action had the portrayal crossed any lines.
The shelving of this project adds to a history of halted plans surrounding dramatizations of Hogan’s life. A separate biopic starring Chris Hemsworth as Hogan had also been previously announced but has not moved into production.
