Hulk Hogan’s Death Caused by Heart Attack, Leukemia Revealed – The official cause of death for wrestling icon Hulk Hogan has been confirmed as an acute myocardial infarction—commonly referred to as a heart attack—according to a report from The New York Post’s Page Six. The information was provided by the Pinellas County Forensic Science Center in Florida following a formal medical examination.
Hogan, whose real name was Terry Bollea, passed away on Thursday, July 24, at the age of 71. Emergency responders were called to his Clearwater, Florida home after he suffered cardiac arrest. He was transported by ambulance to Morton Plant Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
According to official documentation obtained by Page Six, the heart attack was the immediate cause of death. The medical report also identified two major contributing health issues: atrial fibrillation (AFib), a condition that causes an irregular heartbeat, and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), a type of cancer that affects the white blood cells. The revelation about Hogan’s leukemia is particularly significant, as it had not been publicly disclosed during his lifetime.
The forensic findings also clarified that Hogan’s death has been officially ruled as natural. The Pinellas County Forensic Science Center included this information in a cremation summary approval report, although a spokesperson told Page Six there is no current timeline for the cremation process. “I am not aware when Mr. Bollea will be cremated, only that we received a request for cremation approval,” the spokesperson noted.
Hogan’s unexpected death prompted an outpouring of tributes from fans, fellow wrestlers, and entertainers around the world. The confirmation of his medical conditions helps bring some closure to a week that saw intense speculation about the circumstances leading to his passing.
As one of the most recognized figures in the history of professional wrestling, Hulk Hogan leaves behind a towering legacy spanning generations. From headlining WrestleMania to transforming the industry in the 1980s and beyond, his impact on sports entertainment remains unparalleled.
