Chelsea Green Steps Away from Social Media Following Backlash Over Hulk Hogan Comments

Chelsea Green Steps Away from Social Media Following Backlash Over Hulk Hogan Comments – WWE star Chelsea Green has addressed the online backlash she received following her live interview comments about Hulk Hogan’s passing, issuing a statement to clarify her intent and announce a break from social media.

The controversy began when Green appeared on CBS News 24/7 on Thursday to promote the new WWE: Unreal docuseries. During the interview, Green was asked about the death of WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan. She responded by speaking positively about Hogan’s contributions to wrestling and her personal interactions with him, while also acknowledging his “polarizing political views.”

However, her remarks — paired with a now-deleted post on social media — drew criticism from fans who felt Green glossed over Hogan’s controversial past, including the racism scandal that led to his suspension from WWE in 2015. Some believed her comments lacked sensitivity toward the complex legacy Hogan left behind.

In response, Green took to her social media platforms to provide further context and apologize.

A significant part of my role at @WWE involves engaging w the public & responding to questions, often on live platforms, she wrote. Yesterday, I was asked to comment on Hulk Hogan on live tv. Let me be clear: my stance on racism is unwavering. I do not condone it—period. If my response (or tweet) seemed dismissive of real concerns, I sincerely apologize. That was never my intention. I tried to acknowledge a death respectfully, even when the legacy is complicated. I am learning one day at a time and will continue to learn. ILY my PatriHOTS, President Chelsea.

Green also revealed that the amount of negative messages and threats she received played a role in her decision to step away from social media temporarily.

I’ve tried to keep my page positive and comedic, but today, a lot changed… and it hit harder than I expected, she wrote in what she stated will be her final post for now. The name calling, the death threats, the faceless accounts. Social media was supposed to be a fun place and it hasn’t been for a while. It’s been overwhelming and I need to step away for a little bit.

Green’s statement comes as fans and wrestling personalities continue to reflect on Hogan’s legacy. While many have honored his impact on the industry, others have openly acknowledged the controversies that marred parts of his public life.

Green has been an outspoken and entertaining figure in WWE, known for her comedic timing and strong online presence. Whether her break from social media will be temporary or longer-term remains to be seen.
