Blake Monroe Reportedly Set for Heel Turn – A character shift may be on the horizon for rising WWE NXT star Blake Monroe.
According to a new report from Fightful Select, internal discussions within WWE suggest that Monroe could be turning heel in the near future. While no official date has been set for the change, sources told Sean Ross Sapp that a villainous turn for Monroe is already being considered by NXT’s creative team and could happen soon.
Monroe, formerly known as Mariah May in AEW, made her in-ring debut in NXT last month with significant buzz surrounding her arrival. Presented initially as a babyface, her debut hinted at major plans and a potential fast track to the top of the NXT women’s division. However, plans now appear to be shifting.
The report notes that Monroe had success playing both heel and babyface roles during her time with AEW, and WWE officials seem confident she can thrive in either alignment. Despite the apparent pivot away from her initial babyface presentation, it’s also being reported that long-term plans for Monroe remain intact and that the current creative direction is part of a broader storyline arc.
Since her debut, Monroe has been featured prominently on NXT programming, and her character has received strong reactions from live crowds. A heel turn could open the door to new rivalries and position her as a central figure in the evolving NXT women’s division.
As of now, WWE has not confirmed or teased the character change on television, but with the conversation already underway backstage, fans may see a different side of Blake Monroe sooner than expected.
