WWE to Induct Bret Hart Vs Steve Austin WrestleMania 13 Match into the Hall of Fame – WWE is set to introduce a new tradition at this year’s WWE Hall of Fame ceremony by honoring one of the most iconic matches in wrestling history.
During the March 28 episode of WWE SmackDown, it was announced that the legendary WrestleMania 13 match between Bret “The Hitman” Hart and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. This new honor will be part of a category called “Immortal Moments,” and this match will be the first-ever to receive the distinction.
A special video package aired on SmackDown, revisiting the brutal and unforgettable bout that took place at WrestleMania 13 in 1997. Widely regarded as one of the greatest matches of all time, the submission match between Hart and Austin helped redefine both competitors’ careers and is often credited with helping launch the WWE “Attitude Era.”
The match is best remembered for its dramatic double turn, where Bret Hart shifted into a heel role while Steve Austin cemented himself as a fan favorite despite losing the match. Austin, bloodied but refusing to submit, passed out from the pain, creating an enduring image that is still celebrated by fans today.
The WWE broadcast team also confirmed that both Hart and Austin will be present at the Hall of Fame ceremony on April 18 to commemorate the occasion.
This new “Immortal Moment” induction joins an already stacked class of 2025, which includes Triple H, Lex Luger, Michelle McCool, and the Natural Disasters (Typhoon & Earthquake).
The addition of this iconic match signals WWE’s willingness to expand how it honors the moments and matches that have shaped the industry.
