World Title Street Fight Set for Next Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite – After their intense battle at AEW Revolution, AEW World Champion Jon Moxley and Cope are set to clash once again next Wednesday on AEW Dynamite. This time, the two will face off in a street fight, with the winner advancing to AEW Dynasty in April to defend the title against No. 1 contender Swerve Strickland.
The rematch was made official 3/12 Dynamite following Revolution. Ahead of a post-event interview with Strickland, AEW confirmed that next week’s Moxley vs. Cope showdown would determine who moves on to Dynasty. Strickland, reflecting on his past success, noted that he first won the AEW World Championship at Dynasty last year and is determined to do it again. Cope then interrupted, acknowledging that there’s a possibility he could be the one defending the title against Strickland. The two exchanged a respectful fist bump before parting ways.
At Revolution, Moxley successfully retained his title in what turned into a three-way match. Christian Cage, who had earned a championship opportunity by winning the Casino Gauntlet match at All In last August, cashed in his contract during the bout. However, his attempt to seize the gold was unsuccessful. In the end, Moxley choked out Cage to retain the title while Cope lay motionless in the ring.
With Dynasty fast approaching, Moxley and Cope are now set to go to war once again, this time in a brutal street fight that will decide who faces Strickland for the AEW World Championship in April.
