As noted, Ronda Rousey’s surprise appearance at AEW Revolution 2026 may be tied to ongoing frustration with TKO Group Holdings over a compensation dispute related to her planned MMA fight with Gina Carano.
While Rousey made a shocking television debut at the event alongside Marina Shafir and came face-to-face with Toni Storm, a new report from Fightful Select clarifies that she is not officially part of All Elite Wrestling at this time. According to the report, Ronda Rousey has not signed a contract with AEW despite her high-profile appearance.
The report also sheds light on the reaction to her debut. Sources indicated that Rousey generated the kind of response AEW was aiming for by presenting her in a heel role. However, it was noted that Rousey herself may have expected a different type of crowd reaction during the segment.
Internally, reactions from WWE and TKO were said to be negative, with individuals reportedly surprised by her involvement in a rival promotion’s event. According to sources cited in the report, there is a belief within those companies that Rousey is currently motivated to distance herself from WWE, UFC, and TKO following the issues surrounding her fight negotiations.
At this stage, there are no confirmed creative plans for Rousey in AEW moving forward. Her appearance at Revolution was also described as convenient logistically, as she was already local to the Los Angeles area at the time of the event.
