Donovan Dijak Reflects on His MLW Run – Donovan Dijak has quickly established himself as a key figure in Major League Wrestling (MLW) following his WWE release. While initially hesitant to join the promotion, his perspective changed after discussions with MLW executives, including Court Bauer and Saint Laurent. Speaking with WrestleZone’s Bill Pritchard, Dijak shared how his MLW experience has exceeded his expectations and outlined his ambitions within the company.
Dijak admitted he was cautious about signing with MLW, fearing he might find himself in a similar position to the one he had in WWE before his departure. However, after speaking with MLW’s leadership, he felt reassured that this opportunity would be different.
“I didn’t want to be put in a situation that I had just been in for a long time,” Dijak explained. “That was my concern. After talking with Court and Saint Laurent, I got a very good sense that this was going to be different. That’s not to say my run in WWE was terrible—I was given a ton of opportunities, especially toward the end. But at that stage in my career, I was looking for something more.”
By “more,” Dijak meant increased responsibility and the chance to be a top star. He emphasized that during his WWE tenure, he constantly pushed to be featured as a main-event player. Now in MLW, he sees an opportunity to showcase his full potential.
“I told MLW, ‘Here’s how I view myself. If that’s not how you see me, that’s fine, but this is what I’m looking for in terms of presentation.’ My guarantee to whoever gives me that chance is that I will exceed expectations. In WWE, whenever I was given an opportunity, I didn’t just want to do what was asked—I wanted to have the best triple threat match in WWE history, the best Last Man Standing match in wrestling history. That’s always been my mindset, and now that MLW is giving me these opportunities, my creativity is in overdrive.”
Dijak is focused on helping MLW grow while advancing his own career. He wants to take the company to new heights, pushing himself to be the promotion’s top star and driving its success.
“How do I continue to progress in this company? How do I put everything on my back? How do I put the pressure on myself and say, ‘I’m going to be the top guy?’ My goal is to elevate MLW to a level where people see it the way we do internally. That has become a shared mission, and MLW has exceeded all my expectations in execution. It’s a complete collaboration, and I’m thrilled with how things are unfolding.”
With MLW Battle Riot VII on the horizon, Dijak is poised to continue making an impact. His drive to lead MLW into a new era shows his commitment to both the company and his own career growth.
