The Rock Joins Martin Scorsese’s Upcoming Crime Thriller – Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is set to star in a new crime thriller directed by legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese. The Hawaii-based film will also feature Leonardo DiCaprio and Emily Blunt, making for a star-studded cast.
According to Deadline, the film is described as a mix of The Departed and Goodfellas, two of Scorsese’s most acclaimed works. Written by Nick Bilton (The Idol, Fake Famous), the story is based on real events from the 1960s and 1970s, chronicling the rise of a mob boss who fought to control Hawaii’s underworld. The protagonist’s struggle pits him against corporate interests and rival syndicates as he attempts to protect his ancestral land while building a criminal empire.
This marks another collaboration between Johnson and Blunt, who previously starred together in Jungle Cruise and the upcoming The Smashing Machine. Meanwhile, DiCaprio continues his partnership with Scorsese, having worked with him on multiple films, including The Wolf of Wall Street and Killers of the Flower Moon.
With a powerhouse director and an all-star lineup, the film is already generating significant buzz. Further details, including a production timeline, are expected in the coming months.
