Sol Ruca Retains WWE Speed Title – Sol Ruca continues to gain momentum in WWE, successfully defending her WWE Speed Women’s Championship against Alba Fyre in today’s episode of WWE Speed. The fast-paced title match, which aired from the WWE Performance Center, marked Ruca’s second successful defense since capturing the title earlier this year.
With only 49 seconds left on the clock, Ruca hit her signature Sol Snatcher to secure the win over Fyre, solidifying her dominance in the unique five-minute title match format. Ruca previously won the championship from Candice LeRae in April and has now defended the title against both Ivy Nile and Fyre during her reign.
Today’s defense was the first of three major title matches Ruca is scheduled for this week—a stretch that could define her summer in WWE. The Speed match was taped Tuesday night before NXT aired, and fans can watch the full bout via WWE’s digital platforms.
Looking ahead, Ruca faces an especially demanding weekend:
- Saturday, July 12 – NXT Great American Bash: Ruca will put her NXT Women’s North American Championship on the line in a singles match against Izzi Dame. This bout is set to be one of the featured matchups during the afternoon PLE, which begins at 3 PM ET from Atlanta.
- Sunday, July 13 – WWE Evolution: Ruca shifts from defending to challenging, as she teams with Zaria in a Fatal Four-Way for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships. Current champions Raquel Rodriguez & Roxanne Perez will defend against Ruca & Zaria, Asuka & Kairi Sane, and the returning duo of Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss.
The back-to-back schedule makes Ruca one of the busiest stars of WWE’s loaded July weekend. With title gold already around her waist and more potentially on the horizon, this stretch could mark a career-defining moment for the rising star.
