Pretty Deadly Earns WWE Tag Team Title Shot – Pretty Deadly has secured a major opportunity after pulling off an unexpected victory over WWE Tag Team Champions DIY on SmackDown. The win puts the former NXT and NXT UK Tag Team Champions in line for a shot at the gold.
During the February 7 episode of WWE SmackDown, Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa addressed the WWE Universe following their hard-fought title defense against the Motor City Machine Guns at the Royal Rumble. The champions took the time to celebrate their victory, but the moment was quickly interrupted by Pretty Deadly. Elton Prince and Kit Wilson made their way to the ring, wasting no time in declaring their intentions to challenge for the WWE Tag Team Championship.
SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis stepped in to settle the matter, offering Pretty Deadly an opportunity to prove themselves in an impromptu match against DIY. Despite being dressed in street clothes and clearly unprepared for in-ring action, the champions accepted the challenge. The contest remained competitive, but in a shocking conclusion, Elton Prince managed to roll up Tommaso Ciampa and secure the pinfall victory.
With this upset win, Pretty Deadly has officially earned a future WWE Tag Team Championship match. However, no date has been announced for when the title bout will take place.
