WWE Releases Paul Ellering and Authors of Pain – The first wave of roster cuts under Triple H’s leadership appears to be underway, as WWE has parted ways with several names, including Hall of Famer Paul Ellering and the Authors of Pain (AOP).
Following Cedric Alexander’s departure, news broke that WWE had also released Ellering, Akam, and Rezar. Ellering, a legendary manager best known for guiding The Road Warriors (Legion of Doom) to success, had recently returned to television as part of The Final Testament faction alongside Karrion Kross and Scarlett. He once again served as the manager for AOP, reprising a role he held during their initial NXT run.
Akam and Rezar originally signed with WWE in 2016 and found success as NXT Tag Team Champions before moving to the main roster. After being released in September 2020, the duo remained absent from major promotions for years. Reports later surfaced that they had quietly re-signed with WWE in 2022, though they did not appear on TV until their 2024 return as part of The Final Testament.
WWE has yet to comment on the reasoning behind these releases. Given the timing, it appears that more roster cuts could follow in the coming weeks.
