DIY Crowned New WWE Tag Team Champions

DIY Crowned New WWE Tag Team Champions – The December 6 episode of WWE SmackDown saw a dramatic turn of events in the WWE Tag Team Championship match involving the Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin). Initially scheduled to defend their titles against The Street Profits (Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins), the champions found themselves facing a different challenge after The Street Profits were ambushed backstage before the match.

As officials debated canceling the bout, Johnny Gargano stepped forward and volunteered for #DIY, his team with Tommaso Ciampa, to take the vacant spot. Despite recent tension between Gargano and Ciampa, the Motor City Machine Guns accepted the challenge, and the match was on.

The friction between Gargano and Ciampa was evident throughout the contest. Miscommunication plagued the duo, with Ciampa accidentally striking Gargano at one point. Their bickering escalated, leading to Ciampa shoving Gargano and the latter retaliating in kind. It appeared Ciampa might abandon the match altogether when he stepped out of the ring, leaving Gargano vulnerable to a double-team assault by Shelley and Sabin.

However, Ciampa returned to the apron just as Gargano took matters into his own hands, landing a low blow on Sabin and delivering a superkick to Shelley. Gargano then tagged Ciampa back in, revealing that the chaotic sequence had been part of their plan. The reunited #DIY executed their signature Meet in the Middle finisher on Shelley, securing the victory and capturing the WWE Tag Team Championship.

The Motor City Machine Guns won the titles by beating The Bloodline on the October 25 episode of WWE SmackDown. This was just their third match with WWE after signing with the company.

#DIY previously won the WWE Tag Team Championships on the July 5 episode of WWE SmackDown and lost them to The Bloodline on August 2.

This win not only marked a major accomplishment for #DIY but also added complexity to their dynamic as partners. Whether their newfound unity will last remains to be seen.
