Mike Santana Wins TNA World Championship At Bound For Glory

Mike Santana Wins TNA World Championship At Bound For Glory – Mike Santana captured the TNA World Championship for the first time in his career at Sunday night’s Bound for Glory pay-per-view in Lowell, Massachusetts, defeating Trick Williams in the main event.

The emotional victory marked a milestone moment for Santana, who picked up the win after countering a Trick Shot attempt. Williams charged in, but Santana ducked, blocked a follow-up uranage, and connected with a flying lariat before finishing with his signature discus lariat for the pinfall victory.

After the match, TNA head Carlos Silva made his way to the ring to present Santana with the championship. However, the celebration was briefly interrupted when Nic Nemeth teased cashing in his newly won Call Your Shot Gauntlet opportunity. Before he could act, the lights went out, and Elias made his shocking return from injury, attacking Nemeth and thwarting his cash-in attempt.

The chaos didn’t stop there, as co-winner Frankie Kazarian tried to take advantage of the moment but was unable to cash in since he didn’t have the Call Your Shot trophy in his possession. Santana dropped Kazarian with another lariat before finally receiving the TNA World Championship belt, which he proudly handed to his daughter in an emotional post-match moment.

Earlier in the night, Santana paid tribute to his roots by spotting AAA’s Konnan in the crowd and inviting him to accompany him to the ring for his entrance.

The win comes after Santana’s previous unsuccessful attempt to capture the title in a triple threat match against Williams and Joe Hendry at July’s Slammiversary on Long Island, New York. Since then, he built strong momentum with a string of victories that earned him another title shot.

Williams’ defeat ends his 140-day reign as TNA World Champion. The NXT star had won the title at May’s NXT Battleground, defeating Joe Hendry, and successfully defended it six times before falling to Santana at Bound for Glory.
