Dakota Kai Earns Intercontinental Title Shot – The February 17 episode of RAW saw Dakota Kai secure a major opportunity in the women’s division, defeating Ivy Nile to become the number one contender for the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship.
Kai sealed the victory with her signature G2K finisher, setting the stage for a rematch against reigning champion Lyra Valkyria. The two previously clashed in the tournament final to crown the inaugural champion, with Valkyria emerging victorious on the January 13 episode of RAW.
Since winning the title, Valkyria has yet to make a defense. However, she competed in the women’s Royal Rumble match, which was won by Charlotte Flair, and later fell short against Bayley in an Elimination Chamber qualifying match on last week’s RAW in Nashville.
While Kai has yet to hold a singles championship in WWE, she has achieved success in the tag team division. She is a two-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion and also held the NXT Women’s Tag Team Titles twice before they were unified with the main roster belts in June 2023.
The match was later confirmed for next week.
