Booker T Talks MCMG Coming to WWE, Samantha Irvin Leaving – Booker T discussed some of the big wrestling news of the week on the latest “Hall of Fame” podcast with his co-host Brad Gilmore.
Booker T talked about The Motor City Machine Guns coming to WWE:
“Man, those guys deserve a shot to get a chance to work in the WWE as far as perhaps have that WrestleMania moment. These guys, man, they’ve been putting in their work. Are they a good tag team? Hell yeah. They’re a good tag team. That loyalty, being able to invest in each other for all these years, that says something in itself. Do they fit in with the guys in WWE right now? I think they fit in perfectly. Are they experienced enough to actually understand what this game is all about? Yeah, they’ve been around long enough to know that, man, we’re not going to be doing this forever, so let’s get as much out of it as we possibly can. I’m glad to see those guys get a shot in WWE and get a chance to have this run. I really, truly am happy for those guys.”
Booker T on one of the reasons why he left TNA in 2009:
“Once I left, I knew Bischoff and Hogan and those guys came in, and then it really started going in a certain direction, because I just don’t think it’s what people wanted. People love that six-sided ring. They loved the identity of TNA and what they were trying to build and when they lost it, they lost everything. That was just my opinion. I left right before they came in. I knew exactly what was getting ready to happen. I didn’t think it was going to be good. I didn’t think it was going to be good for me and that was really one of the reasons I said my time was up.”
On Samantha Irvin leaving WWE:
“She was not in my era, pretty much. I never really got a chance to chop it up with Samantha. I just know she was good at what she did. She was really, really good. She was definitely one of those that stood out. She set herself apart from everybody else that was doing the same exact thing that she was doing. I’m sure she’s going to land on her feet pretty soft just because she’s good at what she does. I always talk about that kind of stuff. You know, when you’re good at what you do, you don’t have to worry about a check coming in the mail. Somebody’s going to pay you to do it and that’s Samantha Irvin.”
