The picture surrounding the vacant TNA X-Division Championship continues to take shape following the September 17 episode of TNA iMPACT. Former champion Rich Swann punched his ticket to Tampa by defeating LJ Cleary with a Phoenix Splash to secure the fourth spot in the upcoming six-way scramble at Bound for Glory.
Swann joins a stacked lineup that already features KC Navarro, Fabian Aichner, and former champion Cedric Alexander, who entered the contest via his rematch clause. The X-Division Title was vacated after Leon Slater invoked Option C following his victory over Swann, relinquishing the championship to challenge Nic Nemeth for the TNA World Championship at the pay-per-view.
Swann previously held the X-Division Title for 194 days in 2019, accumulating 12 successful defenses before eventually dropping the belt to Jake Crist.
Eddie Edwards Challenges Ricky Sosa
A new grudge match is brewing for Bound for Glory, taking place on October 11 in Tampa, Florida.
During Thursday’s show, Eddie Edwards and Cedric Alexander teamed up against Ricky Sosa and Elijah. Sosa managed to pick up the pinfall victory over Alexander, sparking a post-match assault by The System. Following the attack, Edwards issued a formal challenge to Sosa for a singles match at the pay-per-view, which is expected to be officially confirmed by TNA management shortly.
