AEW star Ricochet has pushed back forcefully against criticism surrounding the scary mid-air collision that left Steven Borden injured at AEW All Out, insisting that no one is at fault for the unfortunate incident.
Borden was teaming with Darby Allin against Kyle Fletcher and Kevin Knight in a high-stakes contender’s match for the AEW World Tag Team Championship when the injury occurred. During the contest, Borden and Knight attempted simultaneous coast-to-coast moves from opposite corners, resulting in a violent mid-air impact that saw Borden land hard and strike his head on the mat. The referee immediately called for a doctor stoppage, and Borden was stretchered out for medical evaluation, later receiving a CT scan with encouraging initial results.
Ricochet Clarifies Logan Paul Comparison And Addresses Risk
Online discourse quickly flared following the match, with fans dissecting the safety of the spot. One user on X compared the collision to Ricochet’s famous Royal Rumble spot with Logan Paul, claiming WWE performers likely spend weeks rehearsing high-risk sequences beforehand to avoid such accidents.
Ricochet stepped in to shut down that narrative, revealing that he and Paul barely rehearsed their viral moment before executing it live:
“No, we tried it once and that was basically it. But it doesn’t matter if we practiced it once or 100 times,” Ricochet wrote.
He emphasized that high-risk maneuvers carry inherent danger regardless of preparation, reminding fans that injuries are an unavoidable reality of the business:
“People have been hurt in wrestling doing high risk and low risk moves. It unfortunately is an aspect we face every time we step into the ring. No one is at fault here. Its just an unfortunate situation. So lets just hope that Steven continues to get better.”
Encouraging medical updates provided by Tony Schiavone and Tony Khan during and after the pay-per-view confirmed that Borden remained conscious, responsive, and undergoing necessary tests.
