WWE Hall Of Famer Fred Ottman (Typhoon) Hospitalized With Undisclosed Health Issue

WWE Hall of Famer Fred Ottman—renowned for his memorable runs as Typhoon, Tugboat, and The Shockmaster—has been admitted to the hospital following an overnight emergency room visit.

The 70-year-old wrestling legend broke the news to fans in a direct video update, confirming that an undisclosed health issue forced him into the hospital and will prevent him from fulfilling his scheduled appearances.

Forced To Cancel Upcoming Convention Appearance

In his video statement, Ottman expressed his regret over missing the SWFL Super Card Show in Fort Myers, Florida, which was slated to run from September 11 through September 13:

“Unfortunately, due to things beyond my control, I was put into the hospital here this evening. Finally got admitted after I was taken to the emergency room.”

“But I will not be able to be in Fort Myers. And I want to apologize, and I’ll get together with the promoters and my friend Matthew that was bringing me in after I see what’s going on here with the doctors.”

Ottman concluded the message by asking the wrestling community for their continued support:

“But I love you all, and keep me in your thoughts and prayers. Hopefully I’ll be seeing you soon.”

Recent Health Struggles

This latest hospitalization comes several months after a severe health emergency. The veteran spent roughly a month in the hospital undergoing surgery after his gallbladder ruptured and released toxins into his body, leaving him to endure a lengthy rehabilitation process to regain his strength and mobility.

A former WWE Tag Team Champion as part of The Natural Disasters alongside the late Earthquake (John Tenta), Ottman was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2025.
