JBL Thinks a Two‑Night Royal Rumble Would Make Sense

JBL believes the idea of turning the Royal Rumble into a two‑night event is something that could work for WWE. WrestleMania and SummerSlam have already moved to the two‑night format, and there has been growing talk that the Royal Rumble might eventually follow the same path.

Speaking on Something To Wrestle With, JBL explained why splitting the men’s and women’s Rumble matches across separate nights could be a logical move. He pointed to the length of both matches and how much time they take up on the card.

“I think it makes perfect sense,” JBL said. “The Rumble takes so long to have, well over an hour for the one match, and then you have the women’s match as well. Both of them are over an hour.”

He also highlighted the importance of both matches and their role in launching the road to WrestleMania each year.

“Depending on the year, one’s gonna be a bigger draw than the other but both are big draws,” he continued. “They’re culmination of storylines and also they start the road, as they’ve always done, to WrestleMania… I think it makes perfect sense to separate the Rumbles from one night to the next and then dress those around with the matches that you want.”

As of now, WWE has not announced any plans to expand the Royal Rumble into a two‑night event.
