Wrestling legend Jake “The Snake” Roberts has confirmed that his time with All Elite Wrestling has come to an end. The WWE Hall of Famer shared the update during an interview with Bill Apter that was recorded in May, bringing clarity to his current status after several years with the promotion.
Roberts was part of AEW during its early growth phase. While he was not a weekly presence on television in recent years, he played a steady role behind the scenes and on-screen when needed. His most notable appearances included managing Lance Archer and working alongside La Faccion Ingobernable. In addition to his television roles, Roberts also contributed to AEW’s community relations efforts.
When asked about his experience working under AEW President Tony Khan, Roberts spoke in a positive tone and made it clear that he valued his time with the company. “Loved it. I just finished up working for him. I’m no longer employed by AEW,” Roberts said. He added, “[Tony Khan] is awesome, really is — breath of fresh air.”

Roberts also revealed that professional wrestling is no longer a major focus in his daily life. He admitted that he has not been keeping up with the current wrestling scene. Instead, he has been dedicating his time to his family, especially his grandchildren. Outside of family life, Roberts shared his enthusiasm for a personal passion, his 1965 Cadillac convertible.
Health remains an important part of Roberts’ journey. Now 14 years sober, he continues to maintain a stable and healthy lifestyle. Diamond Dallas Page, who played a key role in helping Roberts turn his life around, has expressed confidence in his continued progress. Roberts has reached a point where concerns about relapse are no longer present.
At the beginning of 2026, Roberts underwent hip surgery, which was successful. At 71 years old, he continues to manage COPD and emphysema. However, his condition has improved in recent years, and he no longer requires supplemental oxygen, marking a significant step forward in his recovery.
Roberts’ legacy in wrestling remains secure. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2014, recognizing his influence and contributions to the industry. While his AEW chapter has ended, his impact on wrestling continues to be felt.
