Royce Keys’ position in WWE has taken an unexpected turn, but it may place him in a more meaningful role long term. Keys is currently involved in The Bloodline storyline and, according to False Finish, he is expected to remain connected to it in some capacity going forward.
Earlier plans had positioned Keys for a major spotlight at SummerSlam, where he was set to face GUNTHER. That direction has since changed, with Nick Aldis now linked to that high-profile match instead. While that shift appeared to remove a significant opportunity for Keys, new details suggest WWE still has creative plans in place for him, just on a different path.
Current WWE’s Plans for Royce Keys
Keys has already been woven into the ongoing Bloodline narrative over the past few months. Solo Sikoa made several attempts to recruit him into the MFTs, signaling early interest in bringing him into that faction. In addition, Keys suffered a loss to Talla Tonga in June, further tying him to that side of the storyline. These developments now appear to be part of a broader setup rather than isolated moments.
With the MFTs no longer intact, the situation creates fresh possibilities for Keys’ involvement. He could become a target for Solo Sikoa once again, serve as a figure caught between opposing sides of The Bloodline, or even play a role in escalating tensions within the fractured group. WWE has already established enough groundwork to keep him relevant within this evolving storyline.
Although missing out on a SummerSlam title-level match may seem like a setback on the surface, being positioned within The Bloodline angle could ultimately offer Keys more consistent television presence and storyline depth. WWE continues to treat The Bloodline as one of its central narratives, and involvement in that program often leads to sustained visibility.
For now, Royce Keys appears to be shifting from a one-off marquee match into a longer-term role within one of WWE’s most prominent storylines.
