Drew McIntyre is set to expand his work outside the ring, as he has been cast in the upcoming film The Last Druid alongside Academy Award winner Russell Crowe.
The project is currently filming in Spain and presents a story set in a world tied to the legacy of Gladiator, with a narrative focused on conflict against the Roman Empire. According to early details, the film follows a Roman Emperor who uncovers a hidden Druid settlement deep within the mountains of Caledonia. Crowe portrays a peaceful Celtic elder who is forced back into battle in order to defend his people and family from destruction. The role signals another major opportunity for McIntyre to build his acting résumé while working alongside an established Hollywood name.
This is not the first time McIntyre and Crowe have crossed paths professionally. The two were previously linked through the reboot of Highlander, making this their second collaboration in recent years. McIntyre has gradually taken on more projects outside WWE, and this latest role continues that trend as he balances entertainment ventures with his wrestling career.
WWE Status and Recent In-Ring Activity
While McIntyre expands his acting resume, his WWE status remains unchanged for now. He has not appeared on television in nearly two months, with his last match taking place at WrestleMania 42. On that show, he faced Jacob Fatu in an Unsanctioned Match, which ended in a loss for McIntyre.
His most recent run with the Undisputed Championship also came to an abrupt end earlier this year. During a match against Cody Rhodes on WWE SmackDown, interference from Fatu played a key role in cutting his reign short after 56 days.
At this stage, there is no confirmed timeline for McIntyre’s return to WWE television. With filming for The Last Druid ongoing, his focus appears to be on completing the project before making any in-ring comeback. His involvement in the film adds to a growing list of crossover appearances by WWE talent in major productions.
