It appears Drew McIntyre could be nearing a return to WWE programming, as he is currently being advertised for upcoming SmackDown events.
“The Scottish Warrior” is listed on WWE.com for tonight’s episode of WWE SmackDown, which has led to increased speculation about the end of his recent absence. In addition, McIntyre is featured in promotional material for the May 29 SmackDown event in Barcelona, WWE’s final stop before the Clash in Italy premium live event.
That show will take place on May 31 at the Inalpi Arena in Turin, making the Barcelona episode a key part of the build. McIntyre’s presence in advertising tied to both shows has fueled talk that he could return during WWE’s European tour.
McIntyre has not appeared on WWE television since WrestleMania, where he lost an unsanctioned match to Jacob Fatu. Following that result, Fatu moved into a program involving Roman Reigns and the World Heavyweight Championship heading into Backlash. Fatu and Reigns are now set to face each other again at Clash in Italy.
During his time away, McIntyre has reportedly been working on the upcoming Highlander reboot, which is currently scheduled for release in 2027. His involvement in that project was believed to be the primary reason for his absence from WWE programming.
Despite the recent advertising, there has been no official confirmation regarding McIntyre’s return date. WWE promotional listings are often subject to change, and appearances are not guaranteed until they happen on the show itself.
For now, the only match officially advertised for this week’s SmackDown is Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Talla Tonga. McIntyre’s inclusion in promotional material continues to draw attention, but his status remains unconfirmed as WWE heads toward its Italy premium live event weekend.
