AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door continues to take shape, with two additional championship matches emerging from the June 17 episode of AEW Dynamite.
The first development involved AEW World Tag Team Champions Adam Copeland and Christian Cage, who found themselves in a heated confrontation with The Dogs, made up of Clark Connors and David Finlay. The situation escalated into a brawl during the show, further intensifying tensions between the two teams.
Tag Title Challenge Issued, Continental Title Match Confirmed
Following the altercation, Copeland and Cage issued a direct challenge to Connors and Finlay for a tag team title match at Forbidden Door. As of now, The Dogs have not officially accepted the challenge. The rivalry dates back to the post-Double or Nothing episode of Dynamite, where Connors and Finlay attacked the champions during their celebration.
Another major development came in tag team action earlier in the night. Brodido, consisting of Brody King and Bandido, faced Jon Moxley and Daniel Garcia. The match ended with Bandido scoring the pinfall victory over Garcia, giving his team the win.
After the match, Bandido turned his attention to Moxley and issued a challenge for the AEW Continental Championship at Forbidden Door. Moxley initially hesitated before accepting, making the title bout official for the upcoming event.
AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door is scheduled for June 28, 2026, at the SAP Center in San Jose, California. The card continues to grow with several high-profile matches already announced.
