4/28 NXT and 4/29 AEW Dynamite Ratings Drop

4/28 NXT and 4/29 AEW Dynamite Ratings Drop

The latest television numbers show declines for both WWE NXT and AEW Dynamite during the final week of April, with both programs seeing dips in overall viewership and key demographic ratings.

According to Programming Insider, the April 28 episode of WWE NXT averaged 541,000 viewers. That figure represents an eight percent drop from the previous week’s 591,000 viewers. The show also posted a 0.07 rating in the 18–49 demographic, down significantly from the 0.10 rating recorded the week prior.

NXT Ratings Decline Despite New Debuts

The episode featured several notable debuts, including former IWGP Heavyweight Champion EVIL, who appeared under a different name rather than his NJPW identity. Additional debuts included Will Kroos, Tristan Angels, and others, along with the in-ring debut of Lizzy Rain.

Despite the influx of new talent and fresh appearances, the numbers moved downward compared to the previous week.

AEW Dynamite Viewership Also Sees Drop

Meanwhile, AEW Dynamite drew 596,000 viewers on April 29, according to Wrestlenomics. That number is down from the 617,000 viewers the show brought in on April 22.

The broadcast also recorded a 0.08 rating in the 18–49 demographic, which declined from the prior week’s 0.10.

Strong Sports Competition Impacts Viewership

Dynamite faced strong competition on Wednesday night, going head-to-head with both the NFL and NBA Playoffs. The added competition likely contributed to the drop in viewership and demographic performance.

Despite the decline, Dynamite still finished ninth on cable for the night, maintaining a presence within the top rankings.

Both shows experienced similar patterns, with decreases in total audience and key demo ratings. While weekly fluctuations are common, the presence of major sports broadcasts may have played a role in pulling viewers away.

For now, attention will shift to upcoming episodes to see whether either show can rebound following this week’s dip.
