Rebel has shared a deeply personal and difficult update regarding her health, revealing that she has been diagnosed with a terminal illness following a long period of uncertainty.
The AEW performer, known to fans as Rebel, took to social media on Friday to confirm that she has been diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis after a two-year medical journey to determine the cause of her symptoms.
In a heartfelt message, Rebel explained that the diagnosis came while she was preparing for lung surgery, as doctors had been investigating masses found on her lungs. After extensive testing, they were able to identify the underlying condition.
“Okay, here’s an update and hold on, because there’s a plot twist. First, I want to say thank you for all of your prayers because for those who know, it’s been a two year medical journey trying to find out what is wrong and finally, our prayers have been answered. The thing is, sometimes, we don’t want to hear that answer to our prayers. So, while I was waiting to have lung surgery for the masses on my lungs, the doctors finally found what’s going on. The doctors have diagnosed me with terminal ALS. There is not a lot of research behind ALS and we don’t know how long I have, but it explains why I have trouble walking and talking, all of my functions will soon decline. Now, we can pray for the future and what is to come. I want to say thank you to Tony Khan. Thank you to Tony Khan and AEW for supporting me on this medical journey. It has been a blessing that is unheard of. From the bottom of my heart, thank you and thank you to all of you for your prayers. Please continue to pray for a peaceful journey and a peaceful passing. I love you,” Rebel wrote.
ALS is a progressive neurological condition that affects nerve cells responsible for controlling voluntary muscle movement. Over time, it leads to loss of mobility, speech, and other essential functions. There is currently no cure.
Rebel also expressed gratitude to Tony Khan and All Elite Wrestling for their continued support throughout her health battle, noting that the assistance she received has been meaningful during an extremely challenging time.
Her message has drawn support from fans and members of the wrestling community, many of whom have followed her career over the years.
This remains an incredibly difficult situation, and thoughts are with Rebel and her loved ones as she continues to face this diagnosis.
