WWE Addresses Night of Champions Safety Concerns

As noted, WWE has confirmed that Night of Champions will take place on June 27 in Saudi Arabia, but new details make it clear that safety concerns and limited scheduling are central to the company’s approach.

The event was announced on April 23, with plans to run in Riyadh despite ongoing regional tensions involving Iran, Israel, and Lebanon. While the premium live event remains on the calendar, WWE leadership has stressed that the situation is being closely monitored before any final travel decisions are made.

During a TKO Town Hall, Nick Khan addressed both safety concerns and WWE’s plans for the trip. He confirmed that the company will not bring RAW or SmackDown to Saudi Arabia, marking a change from previous visits where weekly shows accompanied major events.

Khan emphasized that safety remains the top priority for WWE.

“We’re only going if it’s safe or if we’re allowed there,” Khan said.

He added that WWE is working with internal security teams and external government advisors to evaluate conditions on an ongoing basis.

“We are monitoring with our heads of security internally and with our government affairs folks externally, the situation there,” Khan told staff. “If U.S. citizens are allowed in at this moment in time, it is declared and deemed safe, we’ll all be going there.”

Khan also confirmed that he and Paul Levesque are expected to attend the event if conditions allow.

In addition to safety considerations, the decision not to hold RAW and SmackDown in Saudi Arabia reflects a more limited schedule for this trip. WWE will focus solely on delivering the Night of Champions premium live event rather than expanding the visit into a full week of programming.

Khan noted that Saudi Arabia remains interested in hosting WWE events, particularly major shows from the United States, but the company’s current stance prioritizes safety and flexibility.

The WWE Night of Champions Saudi Arabia safety update highlights a cautious approach, balancing event planning with real-world conditions while scaling back additional programming for the trip.
