MJF Not Expected to Take Time Off Following AEW Title Loss

MJF is not expected to step away from AEW programming despite recently losing the AEW World Championship, putting an end to speculation about a potential hiatus.

Just days after successfully defending the title against Kenny Omega at AEW Dynasty, MJF dropped the championship to Darby Allin during Dynamite Spring BreakThru. The loss quickly led to rumors that he could be taking time off, possibly for an acting opportunity.

However, Self Made Pro Wrestling has reported that MJF is not expected to miss any time. The outlet, which previously interviewed him in February, cited a source indicating that he remains active in AEW’s upcoming plans.

“In speaking with a source with knowledge of the situation, it was relayed to @SelfMadePW that MJF is not expected to miss time and is not filming a movie at this point,” the report stated. “MJF is scheduled for upcoming Dynamites and will be factored into main event plans for Double or Nothing.”

The title change itself came in a decisive fashion. During the match, Allin responded to a low blow from MJF by delivering a Scorpion Death Drop, followed by four Coffin Drops. He then secured the win with a headlock takeover to capture the championship.

Looking ahead, MJF is expected to remain a key figure on AEW television as the company builds toward Double or Nothing, which is scheduled to take place in Queens, New York on May 24.

In addition to his AEW commitments, MJF also has an independent appearance lined up. He is set for a homecoming match with Create-A-Pro on May 1 in Long Island. The original plan called for him to face Nic Nemeth, but that match was canceled after Total Nonstop Action Wrestling pulled the booking. MJF is now scheduled to issue an open challenge at the event.

For now, there are no indications that MJF will be stepping away, as he remains involved in both television and upcoming major events.
