Despite appearing in the Royal Rumble this January, Royce Keys has not secured a clear role on weekly WWE television. A new update from WrestleVotes Radio indicates that there are currently no confirmed creative plans for the former Powerhouse Hobbs.
During the latest episode of WrestleVotes Radio, it was stated that there is “nothing” in development for Keys at this time. While there had been speculation that WWE SmackDown would serve as his landing spot, no official move has been announced. The report noted that Keys was backstage at a recent SmackDown taping, but there is still no timeline for his on-screen return.
“Nothing. Big question mark. Absolutely nothing. You know, we had speculated that SmackDown was the place for him. It certainly does still seem like that’s going to be his home. I know he was backstage Friday night. Saw some pictures of him. Don’t know when he’s showing up on TV. Hopefully, they have an idea. Hopefully, this is part of the plan.”
His limited presence has raised questions among fans. Keys made an impact at the Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia when he eliminated Damian Priest before being thrown out by Bronson Reed. That performance created momentum, but it has not translated into a weekly television role.
Earlier internal reports suggested that WWE had considered a storyline involving Priest. However, those plans were reportedly dropped due to broader creative adjustments leading into WrestleMania 42. Since then, Keys has remained active behind the scenes. He has filmed content at WWE Headquarters and worked a dark match against Nathan Frazer, though neither appearance has resulted in a formal roster introduction.
WrestleMania 42 is set for April 18 and April 19, 2026. The event is scheduled to feature CM Punk defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Roman Reigns. Whether Royce Keys factors into that weekend remains unclear.
For now, his WWE direction remains undecided. Until creative plans are finalized, his official arrival on a weekly brand is still on hold.
