Gunther’s path to WrestleMania in Las Vegas is not locked in. Despite his position as a former World Heavyweight Champion and a consistent main event presence, WWE has not finalized his opponent. Speculation continues, but there is no confirmed direction.
According to WrestleVotes Radio, Gunther’s current creative status is listed as undecided. While many expected clarity following Elimination Chamber in Chicago, that has not happened. Internally, there is no single opponent set for “The Ring General.”
During the discussion, it was stated:
“Undetermined. Not something 100% I’ve heard. Don’t know where they’re going to go. Could easily be Rey Mysterio, especially with this Dragon Lee stuff going on. Maybe they have something else for Gunther. Maybe it’s Gunther and Oba Femi if it’s not Oba and Brock. Can’t see it being Gunther and Brock at this point, but we did talk about on WrestleVotes Radio how they made a point to throw Gunther out of the building before Brock Lesnar opened that challenge up. So maybe that still has some juice to it. I don’t know. I would imagine though, at this point, Gunther’s three choices, at least in the eyes of the internet, right? Rey Mysterio, Brock Lesnar, and Oba Femi.”
One logical opponent is Rey Mysterio. Gunther defeated Dragon Lee on the March 2 episode of WWE RAW, unmasking him. Given Dragon Lee’s connection to Mysterio, that storyline could expand.
Oba Femi has also been mentioned. He has gained momentum and presents a physical contrast that could fit a WrestleMania setting.
A match with Brock Lesnar remains a possibility, though recent speculation has linked Lesnar to LA Knight instead. At this stage, no final decision has been made regarding Gunther’s WrestleMania opponent.
