SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis then came out to address the situation. He confirmed that neither competitor is currently cleared to wrestle due to injuries from their recent fight. However, he added that both are expected to be cleared in time for WrestleMania.
Aldis then made the announcement official. Jacob Fatu will face Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania, but under special conditions. The match will be unsanctioned, meaning WWE will not take responsibility for what happens. There will be no disqualifications and no count-outs, and the referee’s role will be limited to determining a winner by pinfall or submission.
Both men appeared to welcome the stipulation, given the level of animosity between them. With no rules in place, the match is expected to be one of the most physical encounters on the card.
