Tony Khan Shares Positive Update on Will Ospreay Recovery – Will Ospreay is progressing well following neck surgery, according to AEW President Tony Khan, who provided a positive update on the former AEW star’s condition during a recent interview.
Ospreay has been out of action since last summer after undergoing surgery to address a neck injury. Interest in his recovery increased last week when AEW aired a video package on Dynamite highlighting his rehab process, though no timetable for his in-ring return was given during the broadcast.
Speaking with radio station 107.7 The Bone, Khan offered an encouraging assessment of Ospreay’s status and his importance to the company.
“I talk to Will Ospreay a lot, and he’s doing very, very well and on the road to recovery, which is incredible news for AEW,” Khan said. “Because Will Ospreay’s one of our greatest stars we’ve ever had. And AEW’s a better place anytime Will Ospreay is involved in any aspect of All Elite Wrestling.”
Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter last week that the current internal goal is for Ospreay to return in time for All In 2026 at Wembley Stadium this August. Meltzer noted that the timeline may be ambitious but aligns with long-standing expectations of a summer comeback.
“They aired a Will Ospreay video showing him in the hospital when he had surgery and X-rays of his neck after surgery,” Meltzer wrote. “The goal, as stated, is for him to be back at Wembley Stadium. As we’ve noted, that feels fast but all along they’ve talked about a summer return.”
Ospreay has remained connected to the industry during his recovery. He was backstage at the January 21 episode of Dynamite in Orlando for a medical evaluation, made appearances for NJPW in January, and has continued contributing behind the scenes as a producer for the UK-based women’s promotion Pro Wrestling Eve.
While no official return date has been announced, the latest updates indicate steady progress and growing optimism surrounding his eventual comeback.
