Jake Doyle Undergoes Surgery – Jake Doyle is recovering after successfully undergoing surgery this week to repair a torn biceps. The update was first reported by Fightful, which confirmed the procedure followed an injury suffered during a recent AEW match.
The injury took place on the January 28 episode of AEW Dynamite in Austin. Doyle teamed with Mark Davis to challenge FTR, made up of Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler, for the AEW World Tag Team Championships.
During the match, Doyle took a DDT from Wheeler on the ring apron. As he attempted to steady himself on the landing, he grabbed the top rope while hitting the floor, which resulted in the biceps tear. He immediately indicated the injury, and it was later confirmed by Bryan Alvarez. Despite the setback, Doyle and Davis continued the bout and finished the match, ultimately losing after interference from Jon Moxley and the Death Riders.
Doyle joined AEW earlier this year after his deal with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling expired on January 1. He made his official debut on the January 7 edition of Dynamite, where he was introduced as the newest member of the Don Callis Family.
Alongside Davis, Doyle quickly built momentum in the tag team division. The pair won a number one contender’s four-way match in their first appearance as a team and later defeated independent standouts Alec Price and Jordan Oliver before receiving their championship opportunity against FTR.
Recovery from a torn biceps typically ranges from four to six months. Based on that timeline, Doyle could return to action in the summer, though AEW has not announced an official timetable for his comeback.
